Richard C. Brown is a native of Daytona Beach, Florida
graduating from Seabreeze Senior High School in 1962
and received an Associate of Arts degree from the
University of Florida in 1965. He joined his father’s Real
Estate & Insurance business in 1966 and became
President and CEO of Hayward Brown, Inc. and
Hayward Brown-Flagler, Inc. in 1984. He received the
Graduate, Realtors Institute designation in 1972 and
the Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager
designation in 1979. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1967-1972.
Mr. Brown was President of the Daytona Beach Area
Association of Realtors in 1979 and Volusia County
Association of Insurance Agents in 1972. He was a
director of the Florida Association of Realtors from 1974
to 1979. He was FAR’s State Convention Chairman in
1978. He received a Daytona Beach Area Realtor of the
Year in 1975 and again in 1978. He served the Florida
Association of Insurance Agents as Director, Legislative
Committee, Insurance Programs Committee, IMPACT
Board of Trustees, Finance Committee. He was Chairman
of the Board of the Florida Association of Insurance Agents,
a trade association representing over 1000 independent
insurance agency members for the 2004-2005 year. His
Civic activities include the Presidency or Chairmanship of
the following organizations: Daytona Beach Area Chamber
of Commerce, Rotary Club of Daytona Beach, Concerned
Citizens of Volusia County, Inc., Daytona Beach YMCA,
Mental Health Board of Volusia County, Inc., Civic League
of the Halifax Area, Inc., Father Lopez High School Board
of Education, and Oceanside Golf and Country Club. He
has also served on the Boards of Ponce Deleon Port Authority,
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Board of Visitors, and
Daytona International Speedway Checkered Flag Committee.
He served as Chairman of Memorial Health Systems Board
of Directors, a non-profit community hospital system with
four hospitals in Volusia and Flagler Counties in 2001 & 2002
and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the Hospital
which is now known as Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. He
also serves on the Hospitals Foundation Board. He served as
President of United Way of Volusia and Flagler Counties, Inc.
in 1999 and was its Campaign Chairman in l996. In 2001 he
received the prestigious Herbert M. Davidson Memorial
Award for Outstanding Community Service from United Way
Community Foundation of Volusia-Flagler Counties.
Richard and the former Anne K. Goldkamp have been
married for over 42 years. They have two grown children,
John, who lives in South Lake Tahoe, CA and Amy Wister,
(Jason), living in El Dorado Hills, CA. Anne is Secretary-Treasurer
of Hayward Brown, Inc. Together their interests include
motorcycling and snow skiing. Richard is a trumpet performer
with The Moonlighters swing band. Anne and Richard received the
the Lilly Award for Extraordinary Support and Loyalty from the
Easter Seal Society of Volusia and Flagler Counties in 1996.
